FAQs for members
now:pensions is authorised and regulated as a master trust pension scheme by The Pensions Regulator. Your pension savings are held in a trust which is separate from your workplace and now:pensions.
We employ a custodian, a specialist company responsible for guarding and protecting your money. It holds the money in a ring-fenced account on behalf of our Trustee. Our custodian is State Street, one of the world’s largest custodians with a high credit rating. This ensures your pension savings can’t be accessed or used improperly.
Pension scams are increasing. Every day criminals find more sophisticated ways to con pension savers out of their money.
Things to watch out for
- Any contact about your pension that comes out of the blue, even if the caller claims to be from your bank or a government department.
- Claims that you can get at your pension savings before age 55 without paying large amounts of tax. You can’t.
- Website promotions, phone calls, text messages, emails or adverts encouraging you to transfer your pension savings to get cash or a loan.
- Offers of ‘one-off’, ‘unique’ or ‘time-limited’ investment opportunities—especially if they involve transferring money abroad.
