Gender pensions gap

The gender pensions gap doesn’t begin at retirement age. Nor does it start with the first wage packet. A lifetime of inequality means women, on average, will have to work an extra 19 years to retire with the same pensions savings as men. We’re campaigning to close the gap.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to build a secure future

For far too many in our society, a comfortable retirement
remains out of reach, usually through no fault of their own.
These groups are often locked out of the auto-enrolment
system, unable to earn enough to put money aside for
later and as a result, ͽnd themselves on the wrong side
of a growing pension savings gap.

What we can do to fight for fair pensions for all

It’s hard to believe that by the time a young girl starts school at four, she will already be falling behind a boy of the same age when it comes to providing for her retirement. Yet this is the reality many girls face as they leave education and enter the world of work. Our research is an important step in identifying, defining, and addressing the problem and what we can do as a society to fight for fair pensions for all.

The future of auto enrolment should be front and centre of next steps

Policymakers have made important decisions in recent years which are already making a substantial difference to the way workers and their employers are providing for retirement.
