If you’re logging in to your now:pensions account for the first time
Go to the now:u start page and follow the on-screen instructions.

How do you get access to your now:pensions account?
Your workplace must have enrolled you into now:pensions. When you’re enrolled, you’ll get an email explaining how to set up your now:pensions account.
The email will include your now:pensions account number. This is usually two letters followed by 8 digits, for example NP01234567. Your account number will also be on any email or letter we’ve sent you since May 2025.
If you want to use now:u on your mobile device, download the now:u app from the App Store or Google Play.
Open now:u and go to Let’s get started…
Step 1 – Confirming it’s you
Put in your now:pensions account number. Choose Continue.
If you have a National Insurance number, put it in and choose Continue. You’ll find your National Insurance number on your payslip or P60, or on letters or emails from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). It’s in this format: QQ 12 34 56 Y.
If you can’t find it, ask your workplace. If you’re no longer employed at a workplace that uses now:pensions, please ask us for help using webchat.
If we don’t have a National Insurance number for you, you’ll need to put in your date of birth instead. Choose Continue.
Step 2 – Setting up your account
Put in your mobile phone number and email address.
It’s best to use your personal phone and email as these are likely to stay the same, even if you stop working at your current workplace. We’ll send a security code to your email address while you’re setting up your account. Once your account is set up, we’ll send a security code to your mobile phone every time you log in.
If you want to use your email address as your username, leave Use email address as username ticked. The system will tell you if that username’s available. If that name’s not available, choose another username. It doesn’t have to be an email address.
Now choose a password. Your password must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least one:
- uppercase letter (A-Z)
- lowercase letter (a-z)
- number (0-9), and
- special character (^ $ * . [ ] { } ( ) ? – ” ! @ # % & / \ , > < ‘ : ; | _ ~ ` + =).
Here are a couple of example passwords: BIGjelly22Fi$h,!Lov3MyPiano. Don’t use these exact ones – come up with your own.
Put your password into the Set password box. Repeat it in the Confirm password box. Use the eye icon to make your password visible if you want to be sure you’re putting it in correctly.
Keep a note of your password in a secure place. You’ll need it every time you log in.
Choose Yes please if you’d like us to send you information about pensions and other products and services.
Click the links to the terms of use and privacy policy to open them in new windows. Once you’ve read them, close the windows and tick the box to confirm you’ve read and understood them. Choose Continue.
Step 3 – Confirming your details
Check your email address looks right on the screen. If not, choose Back to update it.
Choose Send security code. We’ll send a 6-digit security code to the email address you gave us. Go to your email to find the code and put it in. Choose Confirm.
The security code is only valid for 24 hours. You’ll need to complete this step before you can log in to your account. If you don’t complete this step straight away, you can come back later and carry on where you left off by:
- following the link in the email with the security code, and
- confirming your username and surname.
Problems? Need another code? Choose Resend code to get a new security code.
If the code is correct, you’ll see the Nearly done! screen saying your account has been set up successfully. All you need to do now is confirm your mobile number when you first log in.
Step 4 – Logging in for the first time
From the Nearly done! screen, choose Log in to go back to the now:u login page.
Put in the username and password you set up and choose Submit.
We’ll send a security code to the mobile number you’ve given us. Put the code in and choose Confirm.
If the code is incorrect, you’ll see an error message. Try putting the code in again. Problems? Need another code? Choose Resend code to get a new security code. You can ask for the code to go to your email address rather than your phone.
Once you’ve put in the correct security code and confirmed, you’ll be logged in to now:u. You’ll see your Snapshot screen.
In future, you’ll be able to log in to now:u by putting in your username, password and a security code. We’ll send you a new security code each time.
If you’ve set up now:u through the website and you want to use the app, you can download it from the App Store or Google Play.
