NOW: Pensions is the proud partner of Pension Awareness Week for third year running

  • NOW: Pensions is the proud partner of Pension Awareness Week for the third year in a row, working with the DWP, Pension Wise and MoneyHelper.
  • Last year, 16,000 of the UK’s savers benefited from free webinars and Q&A sessions from pension experts.
  • As well as webinars on pension basics, this year’s event will offer sessions on sustainable investment and financial wellbeing.
  • 2021 marks the biggest industry-wide support for the campaign since its launch in 2014.

NOW: Pensions is delighted to announce its partnership with Pension Geeks for Pension Awareness Week 2021. This year sees the biggest industry-wide support for the awareness campaign since it began, with support from Royal London, Aegon, Pension Wise, the DWP and MoneyHelper to name but a few.

Started in 2014 by Pension Geeks, the annual Pension Awareness Day campaign – which now lasts one week – aims to highlight the importance of pension saving in the UK.

Free access to pension experts

Starting on 13 September, the Pension Geeks team will be joining forces with friendly industry experts to offer a week of live webinars, Q&A sessions and one-to-one talks – all free of charge – to help consumers make sense of their savings.

Last year, nearly 16,000 people watched the webinars (both live and replayed sessions), while the hashtag #PAD20 trended on Twitter on 15 September – the official Pension Awareness Day.

For the second year running, the roadshow will be online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister for Pensions, Guy Opperman, said: “I am proud to support Pension Geeks and their partner NOW Pensions in their endeavours to help spread awareness about all things pensions.

From the very basics, to the more technical aspects of where your money is invested – Pensions Awareness Week puts retirement savings in the limelight and gets people thinking about later life planning.

“It’s never too early or too late to start thinking about making sure you are on track for the financial future you want. I urge anyone who has been thinking about retirement planning to take advantage of what is on offer. All webinars are free and there are also opportunities to speak with experts one-to-one, to help you get a handle on your pension.”

Patrick Luthi, CEO of NOW: Pensions said: “NOW: Pensions is excited to be partnering with Pension Geeks for the third year in a row, using cross-industry collaboration to provide our members with more information to help improve their financial outcomes in later life.

“It’s widely acknowledged that people need to save more in order to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle in their later years. Awareness campaigns like this provide access to free financial resources and guidance, supported by the DWP, the minister for pensions and the MoneyHelper service, to help people better understand pension saving.

‘’By offering both webinars and free one-to-one sessions, we aim to give people the information they need to boost their retirement savings. Expert guidance is crucial for people’s financial wellbeing and can make a huge difference to people at all stages of their pension saving journey – it can even help safeguard their financial future.”

Jonathan Bland, ‘Head Geek’ at Pension Geeks, said: “Pension Awareness Live is all about making a difference. We’re committed to providing real, practical help to enable consumers to understand and get to grips with their future finances – and we’re so fortunate that the industry and particularly our partner, NOW: Pensions, share this same goal. The event is now in its eighth year and has grown from just one day to become an industry wide week of fantastic helpful resources.

‘’This year will see us delivering informative talks, webinars and Q&A sessions – all live and streamed from our online platform- and we’ll even have a few special guests also joining us! Plus, they’ll be lots of other valuable resources for people to explore.

‘’I urge everyone to join us during the week – it’s all free and you can access the content from the comfort of your own home. We know pensions can seem like a minefield, so if ever there was a time to get on board with your pension – it’s now.”
