Can furloughed employees return part-time? How does this work for my organisation?

Recent changes to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CRJS) mean that it’s now possible for employers to bring furloughed employees back part-time from 1 July 2020 – a month earlier than previously stated.

Organisations will be responsible for paying wages, National Insurance Contributions (NICs) and minimum pension contributions for these employees in line with the hours they work.

The government will continue to pay 80% of the wage costs for the hours which aren’t worked, up to the existing cap of £2,500, throughout June and July.

Employers have until 31 July to make any claims for the period up to 30 June.
