What is an annual benefit statement?
It’s a summary of your pension savings with the NOW: Pensions Trust (‘the Scheme’). We send it to you every year. Your statement explains:

  • how much money you already have in your workplace pension savings up to 31 March 2020
  • the charges you pay us to look after your pension
  • how much money you could have on the date you plan to retire, and
  • what you could do to save more money for your retirement.

Your pension savings and COVID-19
You may have noticed a fall in the overall value of your savings this year. This was due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which made markets more volatile – more prone to big shifts between short-term gains and losses.

This is normal and we expect markets to continue to be more volatile during the crisis. But even in turbulent periods, markets usually recover over time – and pensions are a long-term investment for most people. Don’t forget, if you’re within 10 years of your planned retirement age, we’ve already started to protect your pension by gradually moving it to lower-risk investments.

The Diversified Growth Fund’s value has recovered since the end of March. Your pension savings will be invested in this fund if you’re 10 years or more away from your planned retirement age.
